The Marlowe Theatre announces its inaugural touring production: a new play by Amy Rosenthal examining the Mitford sisters. Opening in Canterbury in September, the show subsequently travels to six UK venues through October.

The drama centres on the aristocratic Mitford family, particularly Jessica Mitford, as her sisters embrace fascism while she pursues her own convictions across continents. The production explores “family, identity and love, with humour and ultimately with hope,” according to Rosenthal.

Director Richard Beecham leads a creative team including set designer Simon Kenny and lighting designer Aideen Malone. Theatre CEO Deborah Shaw highlighted how the work captures contemporary resonance regarding extremism and populism.
