Hamlet Week marks Shakespeare’s birthday with performances, workshops and educational events as the RSC returns to the Marlowe.
Hamlet Week has commenced, marking Shakespeare’s birthday and the Royal Shakespeare Company’s return to the Marlowe Theatre with performances of Hamlet in the Main House.
The week-long celebration features a sound installation in the Crown Bar with original compositions created by adults from Pilgrims Hospice Canterbury and young women from Kent Refugee Action Network. Shakespeare Ambassadors will perform short versions of Hacked Down Hamlet on the theatre forecourt before shows.
Students from the RSC’s Associate Schools Programme will present creative explorations of Hamlet‘s themes as part of the week’s events. The Marlowe serves as lead partner in the 22-school RSC Associate Schools Programme. This June, Associate Schools students will perform King Lear: I Was Everything at the Marlowe Theatre.
